There’s been an incredible response to our post about Swimmer’s Tail In Dogs – in fact, it’s been our most popular post to date! (You can see that post here).
On that note, we want to expand on the topic of dogs and swimming to talk about how to keep dogs safe around water: having fun with your dog while keeping them safe at the same time.
To elaborate on the issue, we’ve partnered with The Dog Daily to showcase tips for keeping your dog’s water activities safe and fun this summer!
Hope you enjoy the post and stay tuned for more on getting your dog used to water (or getting your already-loving dog to follow a series of commands to use a pool safely!).
Did you find these tips helpful? Do you have a life vest for your dog? And who knew there were hair dryers just for dogs?
Thanks for this post. Kayo is a big swimmer so we’re at the beach one day every weekend. A friend we made at the beach mentioned that he used to have his dog in a life jacket but it made it harder for him to swim back against the current. His dog is really a good swimmer so he’s done fine without it but have you heard of that happening with ocean swimming?
I checked out the other post as well about swimmer’s tail – wow, glad to know about it! All wonderful tips! Thank you!
Thanks so much! That’s a good point about struggling against currents with a life jacket on, we hadn’t thought of that! A good thing to watch out for, definitely – especially for any smaller dogs.
Kayo’s lucky to get to the beach every weekend – for a dog who’s a big swimmer, sounds wonderful!
