With Menswear Dog having recently taken the dog-related internet by storm, I’ve been wondering, how do you feel about dogs in clothes?
While funny, and honestly, to each their own, I can’t help but imagine what a nightmare it would be to wrangle Juno into any one of the ensembles they feature on that site – the layers! and the hats!…into the mouth of a Lab I tell you.
Juno is a girl who gnawed her own snow booties off…clear off…without the help of opposable thumbs!

So, suit up Menswear Dog, but we’ll be rockin’ a collar and leash over here ’cause that’s about all we can handle.
How do you feel about dogs in clothes? Do you dress yours up? How do they react?

I think it’s a really creative idea for great photos – would make a funny coffee table book. But dogs in clothes as an every-day thing? Not so much. 🙂
Have to agree with you there Stacey! Good point – they would make for a dashing coffee table book.
This is fun, one can list down points from both sides forever wahahaha. Dressing happens to be one manifestation of humans interaction with dogs…there are other facets of such interaction, including training and even propagating a particular breed or mixed breed. It’s just human nature to tinker with things to a greater or lesser extent, for the better or the worse. Now whether it is sensible to dress a dog in a suit or not, that’s really down to the individual relationship between the human and the dog… for all I know some dogs may love it for whatever reason…and some dogs may hate it and end up ripping the suit. And some dogs like mine just don’t care and can still relax and fall asleep with or without a light and airy layer of cloth around their back. I think as long as the human applies common sense and the dog is not harmed in any way. Dressing the dog is totally fine. There are people who dress a dog to stop the dog from scratching its bandages off, and people who dress a dog so that it will seem less scary to their neighbours and neighbour’s children. As for dressing dogs in a suit, not something I will do, but you can pin me guilty for the odd t-shirt or bandanna 😉 Don’t hate me please 😛
I must admit, I’ve done the ‘bandana’ as well 🙂 but dogs dressed in suits?? with a tie? I’m not sold on it yet.
Personally, I’m not a fan – often the dog is very uncomfortable. Why can’t we just let dogs be dogs? I can accept a nice raincoat for a dog because of its utility, but I think dressing a dog up in a suit is crazy. They’re cute enough just as they are.
Nicely said!
Donna passively accepts what you do to her as long as its not scary. And wearing clothes does not come under the scary category. It could possibly come under the “stupid things I put up with category”. And I like to dress her sometimes… only there’s not much choice for a medium size dog in my country – –
